bloxxtwisterella.jpg Twisterella hits Boro

One of THE key dates in the local music calendar rolls around in October when Twisterella swirls into action once again.

One day, one ticket, multiple stages and around forty of the brightest and most thrilling up and coming acts. That’s Twisterella. As ever we’re pressed for space to run through all the amazing artists this year but it would be remiss of me if I didn’t pull out a few personal highlights. Such as Bloxx (pictured). Oh, man! This outfit are overflowing with lapel-grabbing indie bangers and it’s little wonder the likes of Annie Mac and Huw Stephens have been all over them. Also along for the ride is Dylan Cartlidge who was one of the stars of fab BBC documentary series ‘Mighty Redcar’ and also a hit at the recent Radio One Big Weekend in Boro. East London’s ferocious garage rockers Saint Agnes will be showcasing their sound, which mixes a certain amount of frenzy with a dark, cinematic flare, while Swimming Girls bring their 70s and 80s infused dream pop. Elsewhere look out for some pretty special local acts including folk manglers Nel Unlit and Martha Hill (see page 6 for more on this very special lass).

Twisterella, Saturday 12 October, multiple venues in Middlesbrough, midday-until late, £17.50. seetickets.com/go/twisterella2019
