Legendary Japanese noiseniks Melt-Banana are coming to The Cluny in October to jam a metaphorical firecracker up its metaphorical bum.

Since 1992 the duo of Yasuko Onuki and Ichirou Agata have been terrorising music lovers – in the nicest way possible – with their pell-mell sound. The band have strode purposefully through all manner of genres, occasionally picking up new members and then casting them asunder, taking in grindcore, electronica and hardcore punk, and adding a dusting of pop nous. Needless to say, they caught the ear of John Peel who roped them in for a live session back in 1999 and commented: “Simply one of the most extraordinary performances I have ever seen and ever heard. Just mesmerising, absolutely astonishing.” Their most recent release was 2013’s ‘Fetch’ and I’m still kind of dealing with the fallout from it. If you’re done with “just chilling” then get on board with this Banana bunch and let some bleeding edge chaos into your life.
