This 23-year-old folk singer from Northumberland has real poetry running through his soul, which is very evident on his debut album. He says that the release has been inspired by the bleak Northumberland moorlands and that’s very evident on tracks such as ‘The Bleak Below’ (“When the air thins and the pines decline, I take your hand in mine, Autumn dealt her final round, has blended the green and white”). It’s evocative stuff, dark in places but with enough shafts of light to keep the wolf from the door. Love it.
