Those cheeky Lady Boys are back in Newcastle this autumn and, as ever, they will be offering you a lot more Bangkok for your buck.

Forget the nights getting darker. I know when summer has flipped over to autumn when the nights get glitzier. That’s because, for the last 20 years, autumn has been OWNED by the Lady Boys of Bangkok. And those glamorous showgirls (who just happen to be fellas) will be celebrating their 21stanniversary with their Greatest Showgirls Tour. This showcase will see some of the world’s favourite divas being celebrated from Kylie to Beyonce, Whitney to Rihanna. Tour promoter Binky Beaumont: “When artistic director Philip Gandey opened The Lady Boys of Bangkok at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1998, the success of the show was mind-blowing. For its 21styear we are bringing audiences a show that is even more glamorous, and we even have new cast members.” It all takes place inside their own specially constructed venue, the pink Sabai Pavilion in Times Square, which is nearly as glamorous as the girls themselves, featuring plenty of places where you can get a drink and top-notch Thai cuisine. With over 400 costumes on show, along with big dollops of comedy and an always up-for-it audience, this event looks set to run and run.

The Lady Boys of Bangkok, Saturday 7 September-Sunday 6 October, The Sabai Pavilion, Times Square, Newcastle, Mon-Thurs 7pm, Fri & Sat 6.30pm & 8.45pm, Sun 7pm (no performances 9, 16 and 23 Sept). From £12. ladyboysofbangkok.co.uk
