Newcastle’s quirkiest, funkiest and downright loveliest gift shop, The Glamorous Owl, has a huge and ever-evolving amount of stock that, whisper it, isn’t just good for gifts.

Gifts are great, yes, but when I pop in to The Glamorous Owl I do so to treat myself. And how! I bought my last handbag from the shop, as well as my last David Bowie inspired necklace (as well as my last jar of boozy jam, my last Mexican Day of the Dead type ring, and my last elephant teapot – yep, a teapot in the shape of an elephant). The shop – established by local silversmith extraordinaire Claire Chapman – has over 80 local artists and craftspeople showcasing their work including paintings, jewellery, photography, glass, ceramics, leather goods, mugs and cups, t-shirts, homeware, souvenirs, and plenty of other stuff that fit into categories all of their very own. The shop also run very popular workshops, where you can learn how to make your own jewellery, and you can read all about this, and all of the other stuff mentioned above, from their lovely website, below.
