seandetox.jpg Ready for your Detox?

For 18 years now Detox have been fusing hard dance, trance, techno and old school sounds to grandstanding effect and they’ve got an extra special birthday celebration lined up in September.

I thought that you got the key to the door when you were 18 but a little bird tell me (ie Google) that it’s actually 21. So what doyou get when you’re 18? The legal right to get plastered in your local ‘Spoons? Who knows? What iscertain is that punters turning up to the next Detox are in for a real treat. On headline duties is Sean Tyas (pictured) who is pulling a two-hour set. The New York DJ burst onto the scene in 2006 with his debut single ‘Lift’ and a stream of other dancefloor smashes would follow. He’s also completed an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 and played all the biggies around the world from Tomorrowland to A State of Trance. He’s headlining Room 1. In Room 2 (think acid house, bleeps and breaks) DJ Nipper will be doing his thing. Add in the likes of Mark EG, Paul Foster, Ellis Dee, Mark Archer (whizzing up an Altern8 DJ set) and you’ve got a party and a half.

Detox 18th Birthday, Friday 13 September, Cosmic Ballroom, Stowell Street, Newcastle, 8pm-4am, £12.50. skiddle.com
