coreoften.jpg Music workshops? Free? Oh yes!

For the first time in its eleven years, Hexham’s superb community music hub, Core Music, is able to offer a summer programme of free (FREE!) workshops.

It’s true! This summer programme is completely and wonderfully free and open to people of all ages. Founder and managing director of Core Music, Mike Coleman: “We’ve been extremely fortunate to be able to get some amazing music practitioners and educators on board. We’ve got the likes of Beccy Owen, Mary Hitch, Fran Knowles, George Hutton, Julie Bartley and our bluegrass experts including Robert Hughes [pictured far right with his award-winning band Often Herd] and Matt Price. They really are the cream of the musical crop in the area. We wanted to make sure that as well as removing the price barrier, we were offering the widest variety we could. After all, our mission is to make music accessible to all.” Events will take in singing, drumming, musical theatre, music technology and bluegrass. And, on top of this, Core Music are hoping to be able to offer a free taster day, enabling people to have a fifteen-minute introduction of a new instrument they might never have considered playing before. Details on this, and all of the above, from the website, below.
