The frankly marvellous South Tyneside Comedy Festival is back at the Customs House in July with a line-up packing big guffaws.

Local lad Jason Cook (pictured) – who started the South Tyneside Comedy Festival three years ago – is a real comedian’s comedian, which probably accounts for his extensive contact list of top stand-ups he can call on to play this event. And this year he’s spoiling us with some real stand-out shows including a set from one of my faves, cheeky Scouser, Adam Rowe. Elsewhere look out for Scott Bennett with his wry observations on modern living, Paul Sinha (ie Sinnerman from ‘The Chase’), Jo Caufield (who has appeared on everything from ‘Have I Got News For You’ to ‘Just A Minute’), Tom Stade (all new material from this Canadian superstar) and local legend Gavin Webster. There will also be a family show with The Kagools and Jason Cook himself will be appearing with Carl Hutchinson and later with Glen Roughhead. Get along to as many shows as you can, you will not be disappointed.
