Have you booked your excursion to one (or more) of Picnic Cinema’s special outdoor screenings and parties yet?

I LOVE (yes, caps) Picnic Cinema who screen classic films in special locations across the north. And I’m especially enamoured with them this year because they’re doing a special weekend featuring two of my favourite films: Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Friday 19 July) and Blade Runner (Saturday 20 July). These two classics will be screened at the lovely Hamsterley Forest in Durham, which is set to come alive with sci-fi revellers. If you’ve not partied with Picnic Cinema yet then you should know that they’re about more than just straight screenings. There’s dressing up (if you want – I do), camping, letting your hair down with fun and games before the film, music, dancing and surprises galore. This summer they’ve also got Pulp Fiction at Kirklinton Hall (Saturday 6 July) and two nights at Muncaster Castle with Bohemian Rhapsody (Friday 6 August) and Beetlejuice (Saturday 10 August). Fellow cult film fans: We are not alone.
