soulfood19skldf.jpg Food with your soul?

The next Great Northern Soul Food extravaganza features the best in soul, funk and reggae, with the added attraction of a load of great street food, too.

I love going out to dance, but, then again, I love going out to eat, too. Handily for me the next Great Northern Soul Food event is just around the corner featuring plenty of delectable stuff to put in my mouth and the kind of sounds that are sure to set me gravitating directly to the dancefloor. Headlining is BBC Radio 6 Music’s Grammy-Award winning Don Letts (pictured), a true legend of the scene. There will also be a special DJ set from Smoove (of Smoove & Turrell fame) hitting us up with the finest in soul, funk and northern. Street food vendors in attendance will include Shanty Town Creole Barbecue and Jimmy Mac’s Soul Food Kitchen. Every meal will come with a side order of the best vibes you’ll find anywhere in the north this month.

Great Northern Soul Food, Saturday 27 July, The Boiler Shop, South Street, Newcastle, 5pm-12am, £10. boilershop.net
