openhearth199.jpg Putting the art in Hearth

The wonderful Hearth Arts Centre are set to host an art fair and open studios weekend in May. Colour me excited.

I absolutely adore this monotype ‘Beyond the Bulrushes’ by Rebecca Vincent (detail pictured). What a beauty! And she’s just one of the many artists who will be showing their wares at this event which never fails to send me home without a big daft smile slapped across my chops. The weekend gives you the chance to meet the Hearth’s resident artists in their studios and see – and buy, if you so wish – a selection of the highest quality crafts made in the north. They include printmakers, textile artists, painters, ceramicists and jewellers. In attendance will be new studio member, textile artist Jessica Kinnersley, and this year Network Artists North East will be curating the Art Fair – they have selected members of the group whose work represents a wide range of styles and media. Bardon Mill Pottery will also be bringing a wide range of their gorgeous pots. And, yes, the Hearth café will be open serving home made cakes and some of the best scones you’ll find anywhere in the region. Sorted.
