Hark! A legend approaches…
Danny Rampling was on holiday with Paul Oakenfold in 1987 during that unforgettable summer where British DJs were first exposed to Chicago house music, which they then imported back to the UK. Rampling then presided over Shoom, which has long been regarded as the first club in the country to take clubbers on a Balearic ride to the stars. In 1991 he was acclaimed as the No. 1 DJ in the world by DJ magazine, and go on to sell millions of compilation albums. So it’s a real coup for local promoters SOUL’ed OUT to bring him our way for this night which will also feature Steve Teasdale, Tino Lugano, Scott Featherstone and others. They’re playing the fab new Gate venue and late night bar in Darlington on Good Friday, which I assume will be rechristened Amazing Friday by the end of the night.
Legends of House, Friday 19 April, The Gate, 41-42 Blackwellgate, Darlington, 7pm-2am, free before 9pm, £5 after. residentadvisor.net/events/1231676
