uncaptive19.jpg A sustainable fashion revolution...

There are lots of independent brands in the region who have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to fashion with a conscience, and many of them will be at the Northern Sustainable Fashion Revolution event this April.

Pulled together by contemporary embroidery artist Melanie Kyles and ethical clothing brand Uncaptive, this five-day festival will combine craftsmanship, education, sustainability and ethics within the industry. The dynamic programme includes a mix of panel discussions, fashionista challenges, industry talks, creative workshops and live fashion displays, and will appeal to everyone from curious shoppers to creative types. An exciting line-up of events and interactive installations will raise awareness of fashion practices, the effects of fast fashion and progressions being made through technological innovations and creative solutions. Guests will have the opportunity to partake in hands-on activities, learn from local industry professionals and academics, and explore the future of fashion in a more conscious era. The event will begin at the hub of culture and creativity in Commercial Union House in Newcastle and lead to a finale catwalk in the luxurious ‘Strawberry Thief’ suite of Beeronomy.

Northern Sustainable Fashion Revolution, 24-28 April. Commercial Union House, 39 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle; Beeronomy, 3-5 Hood Street, Newcastle. More info: Facebook “Northern Sustainable Fashion Revolution”.
