B&D Studios have had a lovely refurb and are re-launching with a state of the nation show by Johnny.

Take it away Johnnyx: “The artwork I will be showing reflects my thoughts on the UK this past year, and on our future – post Brexit. Like most people watching the country self destruct, I’ve wanted to say ‘something’ about our floundering nation and through my print work, I found that voice. I extracted themes from news stories old and new, and re-purposed imagery from advertising and promotions past and present in order to create an information aesthetic. I have tried to create pleasing images, some overtly political and some with deliberately obfuscated messages, finding in the process that even looking back through the 20thcentury, nothing changes.” I wish we had more space to show you all of Johnnyx’s fab prints. I guess you’ll just have to pop along to this exhibition to see them for yourself.

Britain, please stand by: Johnnyx, 29 March-19 April, B&D, Commercial Union House, 39 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle. facebook/BDStudiosCIC
