halfman19.jpg What's going on here...?

This Subbuteo team are wearing the very fetching Dukla Prague away kit, which I’m sure is going to pique the interest of Half Man Half Biscuit fans. They’re playing the Boiler Shop in April (the band, not the team).

It’s not been unknown for Half Man Half Biscuit fans to turn up at their gigs clad in the Dukla Prague (a Czech football team) away kit, as their 1987 song ‘All I Want for Christmas is a Dukla Prague Away Kit’ has become a bit of an anthem. But, in truth, it’s just one among many culled from a career that now numbers 14 studio album. And the band have lost not a jot of their caustic wit and uncanny ability to turn a gimlet eye on the vagaries of British life as ably demonstrated on last year’s ‘No One Cares About Your Creative Hub So Get Your Fuckin’ Hedge Cut’ album. Whether it’s the ‘Man of Constant Sorrow (With a Garage in Constant Use)’ or ‘Knobheads on Quiz Shows’ they’ve got them covered. Still.

Half Man Half Biscuit, Friday 26 April, Boiler Shop, Newcastle, 7pm, £20. boilershop.net
