shame19.jpg Shame brought to Hit the North

Shame, along with other big hitters such as Jake Bugg and Tom Grennan, are all due to play the massive, one-day, multi-venue Hit the North festival, which is taking place in Newcastle in early May.

This year’s Hit the North is kicking into gear on Sunday 5 May, which - don’t panic! - has the lovely featherbed of a Bank Holiday Monday following it meaning that you can really cut loose on the day in question. And what a day it’s going to be with the acts above all playing along with oodles of others across 12 (12!) Newcastle venues. Among the talent playing that I’d particularly like to flag up are Sunderland’s brilliant The Lake Poets, the very excellent duo Seafret, Irish country singer Catherine McGrath, rising indie stars Blaenavon, and huge pop star in the making Lauren Aquilina. But, literally, there are millions of acts playing (legal note: not literally) – I’m looking at the poster and I can’t even count them all. The biggest headache is going to be choosing who you’re prepared to miss.

Hit The North, Sunday 5 May, venues around Newcastle, 2pm onwards, £37.50. hitthenorthfestival.co.uk
