One of the region’s greatest bands, Holy Moly and the Crackers, have a new album out on 5 April and they’re launching it with a gig at The Cluny ON THE VERY SAME DAY. Imagine! (They’re also playing Stockton the day after.)

One of the most thrilling things about covering the local scene in recent years has been watching the development of Newcastle’s Holy Moly and the Crackers. They’ve taken a raggle-taggle folk template and gradually infected it with all manner of swampy voodoo, bluesy rock and sizzling indie clatter. They achieved a real breakthrough with their 2017 album, ‘Salem’, which included the low-slung sass of ‘Cold Comfort Lane’, a tune that graced the end credits of 2018’s ‘Oceans 8’ (and it was by the far the best thing about the film). Their new album is due to land in April and the signs are good with the euphoric lead single from it, ‘All I Got is You’, coming over like Gossip partying hard with The Black Keys. In March they’re supporting Skinny Lister on their European tour but it’s their headline UK tour where it’s really going to be kicking off. Fill yer boots.
