Steve Aoki, one of the very biggest names in EDM, is coming to the O2 Academy in February. Mine’s a black forest gateau.

I’ve seen a few DJ gimmicks in my time but Steve Aoki’s is surely among the most ludicrous: lobbing big cakes at punters, many of whom arrive at his shows with handmade signs simply reading: “Cake Me!” He’s been at the forefront of EDM especially since our chums over in the US finally cottoned on to the fact that electronic dance music is a rather good thing. When he’s not playing some of the biggest dance festivals in the world you’ll find Aoki, more often than not, holding down a residency in Las Vegas where his parties have become the stuff of legend. He’s also just released the third instalment in his Neon Future series and this time out he’s collaborated with everyone from Blink-182 to Lady Antebellum to South Korean super group BTS. This won’t be a night for wallflowers, shrinking or otherwise.
