reasonsdec18.jpg Don’t forget Motor City

Hey! The incredible Motor City Drum Ensemble, a.k.a. Danilo Plessow, is playing the next Reasons to be Cheerful at World Headquarters in December.

If you must give yourself a daft moniker then forget stuff like DJ Daft Beats and Billy Beezer – go for the full-on Motor City Drum Ensemble, I say. It’s certainly worked for Danilo Plessow who has been creating a big splash around the globe with his inventive sets. A mainstay of the contemporary deep house scene he likes nothing better than injecting his tracks with a certain amount of roughness full of energy and gritty soul, which has really made it stand out in these times of super-smooth digital production. He has a deep knowledge of electronic music and his mind is always open to great new melodies, which has made him one of the foremost DJs and producers working today especially when it comes to redefining what house can do. But as well as being an innovator in his field he has never forgotten the art of making people dance, which is exactly what he’ll be doing at the next Reasons to be Cheerful night. They’ve already had a great year – welcoming the likes of Moodymann, Floating Points and Ben UFO through their doors – and this night promises to finish off 2018 in fine style.

Reasons to be Cheerful: Motor City Drum Ensemble, Friday 14 December, World Headquarters, Carliol Square, Newcastle, 11pm, £30. welovewhq.com
