Chiara Berardelli
Seamonster (self release)
Glasgow-based musician Chiara Berardelli is a new one on me but I’ll certainly be investigating more of her work after immersing myself in her new album for a few weeks. She writes beautiful, folky songs that take in piano, guitar, drums – and even rich horn arrangements – for highly personal songs that tackle sundry heartaches (such as not having children), and her voice has a lean-in-close, Kirsty MacColl timbre to it, which I can’t get enough of. Just beautiful.
