Circus IV: The Blue Star (Ramshaw Records)

I love an unexpected curio that beguiles and delights and Cirkus IV The Blue Star is one such entity. Cirkus were a north-east band who recorded their debut album, Cirkus One in 1973. Influenced by the likes of King Crimson and Yes, only 1000 albums were pressed and it’s now highly sought after by collectors. They’ve had a chequered history (do look them up) but are now back with an album that prog fans are going to go ape for, mixing the strident with the fanciful to grandstanding effect. Stirring stuff.
