How do you like your Radio 2 friendly pop? If it’s “just so” then you’re going to love JustSO who are launching their super new album at The Exchange in North Shields on 22 September.

JustSO’s forthcoming album is so accomplished it’s astonishing to think that it’s a debut release. The duo of Olivia Morley and David Stanyer knock out everything from indie toe-tappers (which call to mind The Sundays) to big, swelling, life-affirming, let’s-hold-our-lighters-aloft ballads; and from pop groovers that like to get a bit of a jaunt on, to country-tinged rockers pulled straight from their hearts. And the pair meld their influences with plenty of dash, Olivia digging divas such as Beyonce and Celine Dion, as well as Fleetwood Mac and Queen, while David harks back to classic guitarists such as Eric Clapton and B. B. King, as well as the Beatles and the Stones. Olivia has not been long at this game (she’s only 21) but dovetails perfectly with David who played with cult local band, The Longsands. And they expanded JustSO last year with the addition of Gareth Dixon on bass and Paul Reed on drums to give them a luscious, fuller sound. The band recently supported Scouting For Girls at Northumberland Live, but all eyes will be on the fabulous Exchange venue in North Shields in September when they launch that debut album.
