Cancer Bats. There’s a band that you’re unlikely to take your parents to see anytime soon. Not unless they’re heavily into sweaty hardcore punk delivered with all the force of a runaway train, that is.
They’re the kind of band that most people will not have heard of; but for the faithful – and they’ve packed out the O2 Academy tonight – they’re world-straddling gods of uncompromising intensity. Their latest tour sees the band launch into plenty of tracks from their last album (‘Dead Set On Living’) and the raw power displayed on that release translates to the live arena quite superbly. A huge melting pot of metal, punk and thrash, the crowd, rightly, goes wild for them and Canada’s finest respond with no little passion and very obvious enthusiasm.
