Choose wonder over worry!
When selfies first became a thing, I had an idea for a stick that would let users hold their phones away from themselves so they could take better pictures. I didn’t follow through with my notion however, and, lo and behold, someone else came along with the selfie-stick and really cleaned up (I’ve got another idea that is basically cat baskets for humans, but I’m also dithering on that one…). I didn’t back my idea because I’m one of the 80% of people who spends far too much of their time worrying about stuff, and not enough time doing.
If you’re also part of that 80% then you’ll need to get involved with Newcastle Startup Week, which will feature Amber Rae – author, artist and storyteller – speaking on the first day, a woman who has helped countless people overcome inner fears so their ideas can truly flourish. And she’s just one of 50 speakers who will be sharing their knowledge over five days and nights at this event that will cover the themes: Inspiration, Getting Started, Funding & Finance, Growing & Scaling and Keep Going Or Pivot. So stop wondering “What if?” and take yourself along to this festival and be prepared to unlock your inner entrepreneur. (And if cat baskets for humans ever becomes “a thing” you’ll know exactly where I got my get-up-and-go from…).
Newcastle Startup Week, Monday 15-Friday 19 May, multiple venues around Newcastle. Tickets £40, which will let you attend as many of the events as you’d like over the course of the five days and nights. Full list of events and speakers, plus ticket details, from: newcastlestartupweek.com
