Whistle Art Stop’s Graduate Programme (funded by the Arts Council and Northumberland Arts Development), which supports emerging artists from across the north-east, recently invited Louise Winter undertake a studio residency culminating in a one month exhibition at Haltwhistle’s newest and most exciting contemporary art gallery, The SHED.

For this exhibition Louise will showcase an experimental new body of work, including video, sculpture and installation, produced in response to the unique setting of Haltwhistle. Louise uses everyday detritus and found objects to explore historical and cultural assumptions of site, collapsing the distance between art and the mundane and exploring the poetic and often absurd potential of the everyday. To mark the opening of the show there will be a preview with drinks in the SHED - all welcome…
