Durham Roller Derby: Get involved!

The amazing Durham Roller Derby are having a “Tryout Day” on 28th September. Read on for more...

“We worked together, kept our shit together and loved every minute of it.” That’s jammer (and occasional blocker) Claire Robinson describing Durham Roller Derby’s first public bout vs Dundee Roller Girls earlier this year (which ended in a narrow one-point loss for Durham. “We’ll be back for that one point Dundee, we’ll definitely be back!”). Despite the defeat Robinson describes roller derby as something that has changed her life (“Seriously!”), and it’s not just DRD’s co-captain that is feeling the love for these spectacular clashes, as it’s now one of the fastest growing sports in the UK with new teams springing up all of the time. Their aim is to form a new league in Durham which will hold to The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s mantra: “Real, Strong, Athletic, Revolutionary”. If you’d like to know more about them then why not pop along to their “Tryout Day” on Sunday 28th September. More details from their website, below.
