niichepic.jpg Carving out a niiche for themselves

niiche (yep, lowercase ‘n’, two ‘i’s) is a north-east online retailer that supports, showcases and indeed flaunts the work of talented individuals and brands. Oh – and everything is available to buy, too.

I love this trouser suit by Katie Darlington. It looks like the kind of thing I could wear equally as comfortably to Ladies Day at the horseracing or while sauntering up Las Ramblas on a spring day in Barcelona. Hell, judging by the splashes of colour of on it, I reckon I could get away with painting the ceiling in it. And it’s just one of the many wonderful items currently available from niiche a website that sells clothing, jewellery and homeware from some of the best independent designers working in the country today. Jumpers, scarves, shirts, tops and trousers are all stocked and on the jewellery front I particularly love Tanya Garfield’s silver pieces (check out the Morse code bracelets made from daisy heads and petals…). There are also some delectable cushions in the homewear department (Jenny Collicott’s blue headed parrot cushion is particularly covetable) as well as some dainty ceramic pieces, furniture and kitchen accessories. And if you’re a designer yourself, why not drop them a line and see how they can help you.
