Duel destinies

Get ready for a breathtaking fusion of movement and emotion as Leeds-based Phoenix Dance Theatre bring ‘Interplay’ to Newcastle’s Northern Stage this June.

This powerful mixed bill places creative collaboration at its heart, featuring four distinct works from internationally acclaimed choreographers including Travis Clausen-Knight, James Pett, Ed Myhill, and Artistic Director Marcus Jarrell Willis. The evening explores the fascinating theme of duality and shared ownership with the audience witnessing the witty, rhythmic drive of ‘Why Are People Clapping?!’, set to Steve Reich’s iconic music, alongside the intimate, haunting exploration of fading relationships in ‘Small Talk’. The program culminates in ‘Suite Release’, a vibrant new co-creation inspired by the communal joy of hip-hop and house culture. Bold, diverse, and technically dazzling, ‘Interplay’ is a celebration of shared vision that proves contemporary dance is at its most potent when different worlds collide.

Interplay, 16 & 17 June, Northern Stage, Newcastle, 7.30pm, from £12, northernstage.co.uk
