A chapter closes

The National Glass Centre is taking its final bow in July, but the closing exhibition at the centre celebrates the incredible achievements and successes of the University of Sunderland’s Glass and Ceramics Department over the past three decades.

This show – entitled ‘The Graduates’ – features the work of 51 artists includingAnthony Amoako-Attah (‘My Summer and My Winter’ pictured). The exhibition presents a vast and varied collection of unforgettable, awe-inspiring glass works in one location, providing a suitably fitting conclusion to this chapter of glassmaking on Wearside. Several artists have created bespoke works for the show that mark the impact and influence of National Glass Centre and reflect on the future of regional glassmaking including Zoe Garner with ‘Save the Last Breath’, James Maskrey with ‘A Moment of Contemplation’ and Dr. Jo Mitchell with ‘Human Resources I & II’.
