If I ever wore a collar then this Hartlepool three-piece would undoubtedly be getting me hot under it.

Arcs & Trauma is a name I kinda like and I’ve already metaphorically stencilled it on my metaphorical pencil case. But forget their name for a second and check out their music which, as their press release states, is “experimental indie-rock”, which just about sums it up if you’re looking for a handy three-word description of their sound. The “experimental” bit arrives with some snap-to-the-rhythm time signatures which are very evident on their latest release This Place That I Love, which, despite its clever clever structure, is loaded with plenty of heart. In many ways they sound like Field Music with a good dinner inside them, with plenty of oomph to spare. Unsurprisingly the single has already garnered interest from 6Music DJ Tom Robinson (he’s always on to a good thing) and BBC Tees DJ Bob Fischer. They’ve got a gig down in Brixton in November but are back in the north-east early December with a show at Cluny 2 in Newcastle on Saturday 7 December. Should be good.
