Walking in a Coburn Wunderland

The fabulous Amelia Coburn is presenting ‘Wunderland’ at ARC in Stockton this December, which will feature a carnival of festive delights.

Amelia Coburn has had a brilliant 2024, not least by banging out her debut album ‘Between the Moon and the Milkman’ – a release that has hardly been off my turntable. A folky winner, full of arresting imagery and gorgeous melodies, and benefitting from Coburn’s delightful, flight-of-fancy vocals, it hit the UK charts and stayed on the official Folk Charts for four months. Her stuff is perfect for the winter months (all that shadow and mystery) and she’s set to be joined at this ‘Wunderland’ event by Scott Turnbull, a fellow who, like Coburn, has developed a unique world of his own. A supreme storyteller he uses absurdist, surreal imagery and humour to take audiences on an emotional journey, from laughs to tears and everything in between. Also on the bill is the estimable Bob Fischer, who will take us back to his memories of Christmas 1984 and in particular the TV show ‘The Box of Delights’. DP
