Holy moly!
A visit to Lindisfarne – Holy Island – is thrilling enough at the best of times. All that nature, all that fresh air, all that monk’s mead, but ‘Pilgrimage To The Islands’ takes things up another notch by introducing some incredible live music into the mix. It’s all taking place indoors at the all-seater Crossman Hall and will feature some of the regions’ finest talent alongside acts from further afield such as American new wave folk singer Amy Rigby. Other acts to look out for include Kathryn Williams and Withered Hand (pictured – their ‘Willson Williams’ album is one of the year’s finest); Mercury Prize nominee King Creosote; Mick Head & The Red Elastic Band (Head – of Shack etc – is one of the UK’s best songwriters); Butler, Blake and Grant (indie royalty from the bands Teenage Fanclub, Suede and Love and Money); and Martin Stephenson & the Daintees (you’ll know this bunch, right?). Other names to look out for include: The Dave Hull-Denholm Band, The Pearlfishers, Ceitidh Mac (FYI: amazing), Nev Clay, Frankie Archer and Hector Gannet. Food and drink will be available in the hall and in the island’s lovely pubs and cafes. File under: unmissable. DP
