Twisterella & Shout

It’s the 10th anniversary of the brilliant Twisterella festival, which means 35+ bands and artists playing multiple venues in Middlesbrough over one glorious day in October. Oh, man!

Previous Twisterellas have seen barn- storming sets from the likes of Sam Fender, Panic Shack and Du Blonde, and for the 10th anniversary of the festival the organisers have pulled together a line-up that’s bursting at the seams with some of the hottest acts around. Among the acts playing this year are Norway’s Pom Poko (pictured) who combine a punky attitude with sweet but explosive tunes. Also noted for their up and at ‘em ways is Chalk, a Belfast band who have been dubbed “the most exciting Northern Irish guitar band in years” by BBC Introducing.

Another of this

year’s headliners is Martha, the County Durham indie/punks who always knock it out of the park live. A further scan of the line-up reveals names such as Amelia Coburn (her ‘Between the Moon and the Milkman’ album is among the year’s best), Be Quiet, Shout Loud!, Alex Lyons, Baby Said, Brodie Milner, and oodles more. If you’re in the market for pulse-racing thrills this October, then roll-up, roll-up, you’ll find plenty to keep you happy here. DP
