Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens
Open: Mon-Sat 10am-5pm, Sun 2pm-5pm. Free admission. Discover the history of the city from its prehistoric past to the present day in the museum’s exciting displays augmenting the collections with hands-on exhibits and interactive displays. The art gallery features paintings by L.S. Lowry alongside Victorian masterpieces and artefacts from the four-corners of the world. The stunning Winter Gardens stimulate the senses with over 1,500 of the world’s most exotic flowers and plants. The gardens also include exciting water features and a stunning treetop walkway, from which visitors can look down on the plants below.

There are some magnificent pieces of work on show and workshops and open days where everyone is welcome.
The Auxiliary Warehouse
The Auxiliary Warehouse houses two galleries, studios, workshops and a tool library. The newest addition to the Tees Valley arts scene invites, champions and showcases both local and international artists through exciting, contemporary programming.

Free The Biscuit Factory is one of the UK’s biggest commercial galleries and quite the beauty with 35,000 square feet consisting of two floors of exhibition spaces and two floors of artists’ studios. Selling paintings and prints, ceramics, glass, and sculpture from local, national and international artists they also have an excellent café and restaurant run by award-winning chef David Kennedy. A must visit.
