Vennels

This well-respected café is always packed and when you see the size of their flapjacks it’s no wonder. Perfect for those post-book-browsing afternoons at Waterstones next door, Vennels is light, airy and has a wonderful courtyard that predictably gets crammed in the summer. Everything sold is baked on the premises (their banoffee pie is trés bien) and they also serve speciality sandwiches, pâtés and even have a vegan bar.
