Art Venues

Kirkleatham Museum

Open Tues-Sun 10am-5pm in summer, Tues-Sun 10am-4pm in winter. Closed Mondays except bank holidays. Free. This is a favourite museum for many Teessiders, as it details the history of Redcar and Cleveland and the people who lived there. It provides activities for the kiddy-winks during the school holidays, like its famous owl centre, which house hawks, falcons, vultures and kookaburras, among other birds of prey. Plus, there is a drop-in crafts workshop between 10am-12pm and 1pm-4pm during summer holidays. Be sure to catch the Anglo-Saxon Princess exhibit in the museum, a hoard of treasures recently unearthed at nearby Street House farm in Loftus.
