Dorman Museum

dormanmuseum8.jpg Open Tues-Sun 9.30am-4.30pm. Free. The Dorman Museum first opened in 1904, beginning life as a natural history museum funded by local steel magnate (and one-time town mayor) Sir Arthur J. Dorman. However, it is now much more diverse, covering everything from Victorian arts and crafts, local history, nature, sociology, archaeology and geology. All within its eight themed galleries. Its varied programme of changing exhibitions and family friendly workshops makes the educational experience at the Dorman Museum proof that you can teach old dogs new tricks.
