Detail

BALTIC is delighted to present the second BALTIC Artists’ Award, a worldwide biennial art award judged solely by artists. Three internationally renowned artist-judges, Lubaina Himid, Michael Rakowitz and Haegue Yang, have each selected an artist who has the opportunity to realise new work which will be seen in this four-month exhibition. Aaron Hughes (born 1982, Waukegan, IL, USA) is an artist, activist, organiser, teacher, and Iraq War veteran based in Chicago. Kang Jungsuck (born 1984, Seoul, South Korea) makes videos, sculptures, installations and self-published books which explore the intersection of the real and the virtual. Ingrid Pollard (born 1953, Guyana) uses photographs, prints, moving image and audio to uncover the layered histories of representation.
