Sean Scully is renowned globally as the master of Post-Minimalist Abstraction. In 1968 Scully moved to Newcastle University, it was here that he made breakthroughs which laid the foundation for the rest of Scully’s career. Presenting paintings and drawings from 1968-1974, this exhibition demonstrates the remarkable early confidence of Scully’s work and the genesis of his continued fascination with stripes, and the spaces in between.
