Detail

This new permanent display, through many of the larger items found on site, tells the story of the people who not only built the Fort in AD 160, but also of those who lived and died at the Fort when it guarded the entrance to the River Tyne and became the military supply base for forts along Hadrian’s Wall. Star objects include one of the finest Roman tombstones in Britain.
