juliegrady19.jpg Getting it before Edinburgh

There are plenty of comics previewing all-new material at The Stand this July ahead of playing this year’s Fringe in Edinburgh.

And among the stand-ups hitting us up with all-new stuff are two of the region’s real up and coming talents, Julie Grady Thomas (pictured) and Neil Harris. The pair are appearing in a double header which is the kind of value for money offer that I can really get behind. JGT is actually an American, but a Geordie by assimilation, and her latest show is about a huge mistake she made 10 years ago. (Pancakes also get a mention). Neil Harris, meanwhile, is a computer programmer turned stand-up and he literally thrums with geeky charm (Sunday 28 July, 4.30pm, £5). Other comics presenting preview shows are Neil Delamere (Tuesday 9 July, 7pm, £5); Ian Smith & David Callaghan (Sunday 14 July, 4.30pm, £5); Louise Young & Anja Atkinson (Saturday 20 July, 5pm, £6); Catherine Bohart (Sunday 21 July, 6pm, £4); Larry Dean (Tuesday 23 July, 8.30pm, £5); and Seymour Mace (Tuesday 30 July, 8.30pm, £5).
