People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones but they should throw parties, and that’s exactly what the National Glass Centre are doing as they celebrate their 21st birthday.

And as part of the National Glass Centre’s 21st celebrations they’re holding a special Family Fun Day. This will include a whole host of birthday-themed activities including ‘Party Plates’, ‘Celebration Fusing’, ‘Happy Birthday!’ card making, plus the chance to paint your own special celebratory glass object to take home. Other special events and activities across the weekend will include a free trail, face painting, competitions, the Glass & Ceramics BA Degree Show, plus more glass blowing demonstrations than ever before. Other venues helping to celebrate this special anniversary include the Arts Centre Washington who are holding ‘Peoples Pyrex’. This exhibition celebrates the city’s close relationship to Pyrex glass (21 June-27 July) and will feature the work of artist Erin Dickson as well as donated pieces. The Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens will have ‘Sunderland’s Glass Industry’, which will showcase the wide variety of Pyrex products from their collection ‘Made on Wearside’. More details from the website, below.
