beavis19.jpg Beavis. Butthead. Adidas.

Sniggering wastrels Beavis & Butt-Head are probably the last people you’d expect to see cropping up on Adidas sportswear, but, hey, they’re absolutely all over their new range.

When it came to TV animation in the 1990s it wasn’t just The Simpsons who ruled the airwaves. Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head were also cultural touchstones, and, unlike Homer and Co., they didn’t outstay their welcome. The show featured the genius idea of having two dim-witted teenagers sitting around watching MTV while commenting on the pop videos. (Like Gogglebox, if everyone on Gogglebox loved anything remotely associated with heavy metal, violence, sex and destruction.) I seem to remember the un-dynamic duo watching a promo by The Smiths and declaring incredulously, “Who is this guy?” I’m not entirely sure why Adidas have teamed up with B&B to produce this new range - which also includes hoodies and footwear - but I’m positive it would pass the Beavis and Butt-Head “Cool!” test. And I’m sure fans of the show will be glad to know the t-shirt features the legend “Cornholio 93” on the back. All we need now is a range of King of the Hill jogging pants.
