crackledust.jpg Celebrating women’s strength

‘Crackle. Dust.’, a show with movement, live sound and spoken word, is a new dance theatre show all about female courage and resilience.

Over 250 women from across the north shared their stories and experiences of “endings” with dance theatre company Company of Others for this extraordinary piece commissioned by Dance City. Six dancers and a musician will perform the piece that has collated women’s life changing experiences, whether it is the end of a journey, a career, a love affair, a childhood, fertility, era, friendship or a struggle. Nadia Iftkhar, art director of the company: “There are so many ‘stories’ walking among us every day but we just don’t have the time and capacity to connect with each one. This show gives these people space to be heard without having to stand up and own their stories.”

Crackle. Dust. Saturday 27 April, Dance City, Temple Street, Newcastle, 7.30pm, £9.50 (£8 students and under 18 – suitable for 16+). The production will also be at ARC in Stockton on 1 May and Byker Community Centre on 4 May. dancecity.co.uk
