iweigh19.jpg Who are you today?

I Weigh is a new production taking its inspiration from the body-positive social media movement of the same name, which highlights the importance of our non-physical attributes.

So who are you today? The Instagram you pulling your best pout? The shaking a tail-feather you on a night out? Or the stressed to the max you alone in the house? The I Weigh campaign is fronted up by Jameela Jamil (star of the hit Netflix comedy ’The Good Place’). She was inspired by an Instagram post which inexplicably listed the weights of each member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan. The actor took to the photo sharing platform to criticise “how women are taught to value themselves in Kg”. I Weigh, the show, has been put together by Tyne Valley Youth Theatre and Mortal Fools, and is a dynamic and thought-provoking show that explores what we are worth in today’s world. It is both fun and poignant and takes you on a journey through what it’s like to live in a world that places value on the superficial.

I Weigh: Saturday 30 March, Arts Centre Washington, 7.30pm; Monday 8 April, Gosforth Civic Theatre, Newcastle, 6pm; Tuesday 9 April, Caedmon Hall, Gateshead, 6pm; Saturday 27 April, The Witham, Barnard Castle, time TBA. £5 adults, £3 children 13 and under.
