La Discotheque is returning to Boiler Shop in Newcastle in March with the kind of line-up that is going to have the hairs on the back of your neck doing the hokey-cokey.

The first La Discotheque was such a ridiculously friendly and packed out success that it was inconceivable that it wasn’t all going to happen again and, what do you know, it is, but bigger, better, with more feathers, more sparkle, more confetti, more stilt walkers, more pink flamingos, more dancers, more secret toilet sets (oh, yes!) and more feel-good tunes. And this time they’re hitting us up with DJ royalty in the shape of Norman Jay (pictured). One of the most respected DJs in the world today – particularly among those who love their disco, soul and funk – his sets are extraordinary, life-affirming experiences. Also playing are Crazy P who made their name with an unerring combination of lushly structured songs and live power, while never forgetting their roots on the dance floor of the late 90s house, disco and soul clubs. This promises to be one of THE best nights out of the month (scratch that: year).

La Discotheque: Norman Jay + Crazy P, Saturday 9 March, Boiler Shop, South Street, Newcastle, 9pm, £21. boilershop.net
