This year’s show for children at St. Mary’s Heritage Centre is ‘The Frog & The Princess’ and it looks like it’s shaping up to be very special indeed.

Over the last few years these shows at St. Mary’s have been a real festive treat for young children. For while pantos can be overly boisterous and too much to take in, these shows are more intimate and manage to create their own worlds which really draw their audiences in. And this year’s looks set to be utterly delightful. Told through exquisite use of rod puppetry this much-loved story helps us to understand what happens when a Princess deems a Frog unworthy of being her friend, just because of what he is. Together they go on an amazing journey from rejection to friendship and discover that deep down they are not so very different after all. It’s a show that is sure to fire the imagination of every child and fill them with all the joy of the festive season as they enter the land of these master puppeteers. Me? I’m going to purloin a child from somewhere as I simply must check this out. St Mary’s always kickstarts my feel-good Christmas vibes.
