summerhill18.jpg Summerhill Christmas Fair!

The hidden gem that is Summerhill Square, just outside of Newcastle city centre, is the place to be on Sunday 16 December because that’s when they’re having their grand Christmas Fair.

I say “hidden gem” because although plenty of people know about Summerhill Park, which is a couple of streets away from the Discovery Museum in Newcastle city centre, there are plenty who have passed it by. But keeping alive all of the good stuff that happens there are The Friends of Summerhill, a community group who are custodians of Summerhill Bowling Club. And they’re the ones responsible for this Christmas fair which is a fundraiser for the West End Refugee Service and the Summerhill Community Gardens. Taking place on a Sunday afternoon it will feature craft stalls, vintage stuff galore, a raffle and a children’s lucky dip, as well as home-made savouries, tea, mulled wine and all of that type of malarkey. I’ll see you there next to the tombola stand.  Summerhill Christmas Fair, Sunday 16 December, Summerhill Bowling Club, Winchester Terrace, Newcastle, NE4 6EH, 2-5pm, 50p entry (children free).
