For many years soul fans have been all over Terry Jones. The stalwart DJ has already played a series of show-stopping sets at Hoochie Coochie and he’s back in November for more. I’m already counting the days.

Terry Jones has been one of the UK’s most prominent proponents of all things soul for over 40 years. He was the main mover and groover at the Norfolk Village nights in Shoreditch, which were such a big deal for fans addicted to the good stuff, DJing there for 21 of those years. The club has now gone but it lives on through the compilation albums that have all won a raft of rave reviews. Terry continues to do his stuff today with slots across Europe (he has held his own weekender, Village Soul Italia, in Tuscany) and naturally he always goes down a storm when he plays the Stockport Weekender. This is his 4thyear doing the biz at Hoochie Coochie and he never puts a foot wrong. Expect dancefloor classics and super sweet rarities alike.

Terry Jones Village Soul, Friday 30 November, Hoochie Coochie, Pilgrim Street, Newcastle, doors 7pm, stage 9pm, free (£5 after 10pm). hoochiecoochie.co.uk
