North Shields based theatre maker and writer Jonluke McKie is looking for individuals who are willing to share their thoughts about what gender and sexuality means to them through a conversation about sex as part of his research into a new play called ‘Preconceived’.

Working in partnership with Newcastle based dance and theatre artist Lizzie J Klotz (that’s Lizzie on the left, Jonluke on the right) ‘Preconceived’ is set to be a fast-paced, physical show, performed by one actor, that will use participants’ true stories, as well as original writing by Jonluke, to help shed light on the stories we don’t hear so often when it comes to sex, exploring the funny, painful, hairy and confusing. He is particularly interested in speaking to people from the LGBTQI+ communities, older interviewees (people aged 65 and over), people with disabilities as well as those who don’t have sex. Jonluke: “As a gay man my sexuality, whether I like it or not, has defined me in other people’s eyes throughout my life. People often come to me for advice on their sex lives, though I’ve spent most of my life feeling slightly baffled by my own sexuality. These factors were the starting points for Preconceived.”

Anyone interested in sharing their story can contact Jonluke: jon-luke-mckie@hotmail.co.uk or by visiting the Preconceived Facebook page @preconceivedshow. More info: jonlukemckie.com/preconceived
